Old Friends

Abby, AJ, Jaxon, and Kennedy

We are always excited to see the holidays come! That means special visits from friends....and these friends go way back to when we entered the coaching family 10 years ago. It is amazing to watch the kids grow up. We found ourselves reminiscing about Kennedy's first birthday and meeting baby Abigail at one month old!

Football Helmet

Jaxon found a Montgomery Bear helmet in our garage from an old football banquet we had been too. Of course, "on" followed and the helmet was so heavy that when he sat he led head first to the floor.

Blessed Be His Name

We cannot take credit for this completely. Kennedy's school is amazing in so many ways, but the most important way is building her knowledge and love of God. No meal or nap is complete without her leading prayer and saying "I want to pray to God." I hurried her to her nap Tuesday afternoon when she became emotional almost crying saying the above!

It's funny, when I first enrolled Kennedy into school even at 4 months I was geared toward academic development. Yes, it is still important to me, but in the end, a well-rounded happy child is who I care about seeing the most now.

Daddy and His Girl

The Shoe Fettish

I know I have mentioned that Jaxon has a shoe fettish. This past week every night he went to bed with a different shoe--loafers, tennis shoes, and they all were too big! The going to bed with shoes on wasn't so bad, but waking up with them on and changing him was not so easy! Love this picture...note the wet spot...milk from sippy. Now that will smell lovely in the morning!

Happy Birthday MacKenzie

Cousin MacKenzie celebrated her 8th birthday this weekend. It is hard to believe that she is eight years old! We had a great time at her party with pinata and oreo turkey project. Happy birthday and many more!

The Funniest Things

Kennedy always amazes me--this age is so much fun. The last couple of week I have picked up the phone to say...listen to what Kennedy just said.

  1. Mommy when do we go to heaven?
  2. Heaven is in the sky and the God is King.
  3. Mommy, are you an elf? This was after we went shopping and she told me Santa needed help making gifts. It is okay if you are an elf as long as you don't leave me.
  4. Your card sings happy birthday but it does not say to mommy or daddy.
  5. I am going to be a coach with daddy and if the bears don't win they are not coming to my birthday.
  6. Mommy, are you calling cousin Jamie or Avery and Austin's Jamie? I didn't realize she knew a difference or described it as such:)

She is a sweet little and very thoughtful. Monday she packed an extra dry-erase marker for her teacher because one of the big kids took it and she knew she needed one.

School Pictures Fall 2010

I recall school pictures, but none that resembled this. We were some proud parents when we got these pictures, but of course they had good subjects to work with :)

Gotta Love Sleeping Babies

This picture reminds me of Kennedy little face when she was a baby. Those eyes have never changed.

And this little boy....his nap on Sunday ended after thirty minutes in his bed. He came into the living room laid on mommy, the daddy, and then laid his blankie on the floor and slept an hour like this. Kennedy and I made a shopping run and Jeremy said he awoke and then got on the couch to sleep another 45 minutes. Kennedy always slept in her bed..like her mom, can't sleep anywhere. Jaxon on the otherhand, is like his daddy, could sleep about anywhere!

Blessings

I celebrated my 33rd birthday in the most perfect of ways...with my family. The kids showered me with gifts in the morning...hugs, kisses, birthday songs, and Kennedy picked out the sign "I love you" charm for my bracelet. I got in a pedi-mani and had a great day! Ms. Joleen the kid's school director met me at the door with happy birthday greetings, because Kennedy had told everyone about today. The day ended with a bday song from the PreK class. Kennedy smiled from ear-to-ear....what blessings!! The little things that make my heart so full!
Thank you for all of the bday wishes!

Still Can't Believe It

For those of you connected to FB, well you already know the story. This weekend I headed to Brenham with Jaxon to visit Grannie Maurer. She has been sick and I wanted to go and visit her. After a couple of hours at her house, Jaxon and I ventured to Doug and Dorothy's then made a pit stop at Grannie's before heading to Uncle Neils and this is when the fun began.
I put Jaxon in the passenger side front seat and went to get in the driver seat. I heard a "click" and my heart stopped in the split second that I realized my keys were in the jeep!!! I frantically called my dad who was inside Grannie's and we started by coaching Jaxon to "push the button". We got smiles, him reorganzing daddy's coin collection in the cup holder bringing one to his mouth, finding daddy's pencil and Kennedy's necklace (all things that his little hands never get to touch). This went on for about twenty minutes. Uncle Neil had pulled up at the moment that Jaxon locked himself in the vehicle. Luckily, a neighbor who happened to have a slim-jim stopped in and we got him out (we had help on the way). The entire time Jaxon just smiled at us, played with everything he could find, and was entertained as we held Grannie' s puppy at the window. The tears did come when the two men, Neil and the neighbor, worked steady to unlock the door. The thought of breaking in the window did come to mind, thank God my dad was there to keep me sane.
