Grant and Carter spent their first five hours of life in the NICU to monitor vitals.  They progressed well and were able to stay with mom and dad shortly after birth. Our doctor informed us that we were very lucky that we scheduled the boys when we did for the c-section. When they were performing the surgery they found that my c-section incision was open internally which in the end meant that my uterus was at high risk to rupture. They started blood sugar monitoring shortly after birth and after 48 hours of monitoring and 12 hours of heel sticks at normal levels they were good to go.
