A friend snapped this picture! I was so glad she did because it captured one of many milestones in our family's life.
Years ago, in my mind I thought I would dread the start of kindergarten. For me it meant more time away Kennedy. In private care, I have kept her out weekly and we were involved as much as we could be enjoying the flexible schedule.
The first day of kindergarten came, August 28th, and Kennedy and we as a family took it in stride. She was completely confident, ready, and eager to join her peers. Mommy and Daddy did not shed a tear. I felt at peace knowing she is in good hands, in a great program, and that we have many friends as parents and teachers in the school there with extra eyes and loving hands to care for her. We can't wait to see the school year unfold. We love you Kennedy!!
Not only did Kennedy have a big day, Jaxon did as well. This was the first time he had gone to school without his sister to hold hands with as he walked into the door. He definitely holds his own, however, this day he had many questions as to why Kennedy was not with him. He handled it better than I expected and now is a Blue Bird learning to trace his name, his letter and colors. I stopped by the school on his first day and caught a glimpse of him running to grab the director's hand standing in front of his peers to sing, "Go Now in Peace". That memory will be forever etched in my mind.....what a great first day of school!
