Maurer Frio Trip 2011

The Maurer's enjoyed another trip to the Frio. This was our 2nd trip to Concan and all 25 of us enjoyed it. We played a couple games of intense volleyball:), ate very good, played cards, and just enjoyed being "family".  The most important thing is we got to be.....F-A-M-I-L-Y without any other interferences or agendas and that was the best part of the trip. We are BLESSED!

Celebrating the BIG TEN

After our great trip to the Frio with the Maurer family we returned to our normal day Thursday, however, Thursday was no normal day. July 21st = Ten Year Anniversary.  We had nothing special planned after our trip and the meal of the night would have been left over spaghetti. Cousin Jamie called me mid-afternoon to see if she and Kyle could come see the new casa. We jumped on it and we got a even bigger surprise to see Jamie, Kyle, Doug, and Dorothy. We had a great night as you can see by the pictures.

We went to eat and before dinner was over we were wearing sombreros and our family had ordered a round of tequila shots to celebrate our ten years together.  I have not had a tequila shot probably in 5 years and had to retaught the method with salt, tequila, and lime.  We had a blast and were so excited to celebrate in style.  Doug is my godfather and Jamie is Kennedy's godmother....we are blessed in so many ways. Family is the biggest blessing and I hope we all can remember that in the day-to-day rush.  Yes, things get hectic, feelings and wants overcome reasoning, but in the end people matter not things. Ten years of marriage and family has taught me this and I wouldn't trade one day of it.

10 Years Ago

I married my best friend.  I have carried this photo in my wallet tucked behind my license for 10 years. The picture is worn and it tells a story of friendship, love, family, and what marriage really is.  I have learned that marriage is a partnership and it isn't always easy but God and everyone else knows I could not live a day without this man. We began dating in 1993 at the tender age of 16. I remember the day he asked me to be his "girlfriend", the day he danced with me under the stars and asked me to marry him, and the day we both cried when each of our children was born. I can admit through the events of life I do take him for granted  at times, however, today I am reminded of how sweet our life really is. 

What we came home to...

We came back from Concan and drove to check on the status of the house and our backsplash was halfway complete! It look awesome!!  Maurer family vacation pictures to come soon!
